REMCL Launches National Energy Management Centre for Energy Data Collection from SEMCs

Railway Energy Management Company Ltd (REMC Ltd), which is a subsidiary of RITES Ltd, has established the National Energy Management Centre (NEMC) at its workplace. The Energy Management Centre will look into the supervision of as well as purchase power for the Railways. This will be done at a pan India level.

The inauguration of the NEMC was recently held and saw the presence of Naveen Gulati, member (traction and rolling inventory), Railway Board, and Rahul Mithal, CMD RITES and Chairman REMC Ltd, and extra member, traction, Railway Board.

Ajay Kumar Singhal, CEO, REMCL, informs Saur Energy, “The control center is important for the overall power utilisation of various Zonal Railways. It is pivotal for energy data collection from the 17 State Energy Management Centres (SEMCs) operating across the railways. The centre has been developed for monitoring and management of procured energy for the railways at a national level.”

He further informs that NEMC will boast of features such as  single window service to Indian Railways, optimised scheduling and forecasting, integration of generation profiles of generators of conventional/renewable power, advising real time schedule, declared capacity revision and exchange power as well as optimisation of un-requisition surplus power to Indian Railways.

Earlier, Ayana Energy bagged 300 MW of renewable energy from REMCL. REMCL had also awarded a 50.4 MW wind project to Sembcorp recently.
