Photo: RIL Reliance Industries Limited has commenced the construction of Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar in western state of Gujarat. The complex is built across 5,000 acres of land in the Gujarat town, read the press release by the company. The Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex will have five giga factories for Photovoltaic panels, Fuel cell system, Green Hydrogen, Energy storage and Power electronics. Along with that, Reliance is also developing a manufacturing ecosystem for wind power generation at giga scale meant for wind power generation. The company has also invested Rs 60,000 crore to construct facilities pertaining to manufacturing and integrating critical components of the New Energy ecosystem. This will include fully integrated solar photovoltaic manufacturing complex, advanced energy storage systems for integrated cells, battery packs, control manufacturing, electrolyser manufacturing facility, power electronics and semiconductor development, basic raw material and auxiliary materials manufacturing and research and development facilities for all new energy technologies. “Jamnagar solar PV and cell module factory will be the first-of-its-kind ‘quartz-to-module’ facility globally, with components from quartz to metallurgical silicon, polysilicon, and ingots/wafers, that will be integrated with cells and modules. This will take us a step closer to our target of establishing and enabling at least 100 giga watts (GW) of solar energy by 2030,” said RIL in a media statement. With that, RIL has invested Rs 5.95 lakh crore in the state of Gujarat for Green Energy and other projects. The press release by RIL also stated, “Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex will be among the largest such integrated renewable energy manufacturing facilities in the world”. Reliance Industries has reported a 10.9 per cent increase in consolidated profit after tax during the October-December 2023 quarter at Rs 19,641 crore. Its quarterly consolidated EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) stood at Rs 44,678 crore which represents an increase of 16.7 per cent year-on-year. Along with that, RIL’s consolidated revenue increased by 3.2 per cent at Rs 2,48,160 crore supported by continued growth momentum in consumer businesses, read the company’s earnings report.
