Rays Power Infra Pvt. Ltd. has announced the successful commissioning of its 78 MW solar PV projects in Tehsil-Bhagwanpur in the Roorkee District of Uttarakhand. The solar PV project execution work started in the last week of November 2016 and was executed by Rays Power Infra on turnkey basis – from land acquisition to commissioning. The 78 MW solar PV project comes under Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency’s (UREDA) competitive bidding for 2015-16. It will supply energy to the power hungry industrial areas of Bhagwanpur and Roorkee. Moreover, this project is one of the superior projects, where local farmers have been made stakeholders by giving them a source of livelihood. Instead of forcing farmers to sell their land, Rays Power Infra has devised a unique model where farmers can also become a part of the project. More than 1000 farmers will acquire direct and indirect benefits from this project by receiving a constant monthly source of income for more than 25 years. Commenting on the occasion, Ketan Mehta, CEO, Rays Power Infra said, “After graduating from IIT Roorkee in 2010 it was my vision to develop and construct the largest solar project in the state of Uttarakhand, the largest in the state so far. We have achieved this successfully, adding another remarkable milestone to Rays’ list of executed projects.” He added “Currently, we have a 40% market share out of total number of solar projects in the state of Uttarakhand, which we will increase to above 80 % by end of current financial year. We have received excellent support from the Energy department of the state and the success of the project is owed to them.” Kunwar Rajeev Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Rays Power Infra said, “We have created a land bank of more than 2000 acres, where we can implement more than 500 MW and single handedly accomplished 100% RPO of the state for the next five years. This project is a minor contribution to the state and to the nation for a greener and brighter tomorrow.” Tags: green energy, Rays Power, Rays Power Infra, Renewable Energy, Solar, Solar Energy, Solar India, Solar India News, Solar Market, Solar Power, Uttarakhand
