Rapido To Launch ‘Rapido EV’ E-bike Taxi Services, Partners with Zypp Electric By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Mar 25th, 2021 Rapido, one of India’s first and fastest-growing Bike taxi apps has announced that it is going to launch an electric bike (e-bike) taxi service, under a partnership with Zypp Electric, a last-mile delivery provider. The new E-taxi will be called ‘Rapido EV’, which will be starting from March 2021 in Delhi and the National Capital Regions (NCR), as a part of a three-month-long pilot run. Rapido announced it will be onboarding over 100 riders and electric two-wheelers from Zypp Electric as part of its Captain fleet, to reduce its carbon footprint and encourage EV adoption in the country. Speaking on the launch of their all-new ‘Rapido EV’ bike taxi, co-founder of Rapido, Aravind Sanka stated, “While India is the largest two-wheeler market, only 1 percent of it is electric. With the launch of Rapido EV rides, we want to give a unique experience to our users along with contributing positively to the environment and reduce our carbon footprint.” The new Rapido EV will be available under the Ride section in the Rapido app. The service could be priced at the usual Rapido ride fare with a minimal convenience fee. “The partnership with Rapido is part of a highly focused EV utilization project where we wish to ensure that every segment is able to switch to EVs comfortably,” commented the Co-Founder of Zypp Electric, Akash Gupta on the partnership with Rapido.
