Rajasthan: POWERGRID Commissions RE Evacuation Projects By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Thu, Jan 23rd, 2025 Highlights : With a mandate for implementing the transmission system strengthening scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part-C Rajasthan: POWERGRID Commissions 8.1 GW Sikar Transmission Solar Project POWERGRID Sikar Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) today announced the commissioning its assigned work of augmenting the power evacuation from the solar energy zones of Rajasthan. The project was envisioned to evacuate 8.1 GW of green power from the zones. POWERGRID, in its filing before the exchanges informed the investors about the latest development. “In terms of Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, as amended, this is to inform that POWERGRID Sikar Transmission Limited (a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.) secured through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding with a mandate for implementation of “Transmission system strengthening scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part-C” has been completely commissioned with effect from 19th December, 2024 for which Notification for Commercial Operation (DOCO) has been received on 22nd January, 2025,” the company said. ” POWERGRID Projects Last year in 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones for six POWERGRID projects and inaugurated two projects, totaling ₹17,267 crore. The inauguration took place in the presence of the Governor, key state dignitaries, and members of the cabinet. The foundation stones were laid for projects including: POWERGRID Bikaner III Neemrana Transmission Limited POWERGRID Bhadla-3 Transmission Limited POWERGRID Sikar Khetri Transmission Limited POWERGRID Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited POWERGRID Ramgarh-II Transmission Limited POWERGRID Bhadla III & Bikaner III Transmission Limited Additionally, two projects—POWERGRID Bhadla Transmission Limited and POWERGRID Aligarh Sikar Transmission Limited—were inaugurated during the ceremony. These projects aim to strengthen transmission infrastructure for evacuating renewable energy from Rajasthan’s solar-rich energy zones. Rajasthan’s Renewable Push Companies like Adani Energy’s subsidiary, Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL), are also building transmission projects worth ₹25,000 crore. AESL secured the order for the Bhadla (Rajasthan)-Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) project from REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL). In a regulatory filing, Adani Energy Solutions had earlier stated: “This is AESL’s largest order win to date, taking its under-execution order book to ₹54,761 crore and its transmission network to 25,778 ckm and 84,186 MVA transformation capacity. AESL won the project under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism, with RECPDCL serving as the bid process coordinator.
