Proinso has announced that it has been selected to provide mounting structures for the 2MW rooftop installation at San Pedro Sula Bus Station in Honduras. The San Pedro Sula Bus Station is the largest bus station in Central America and the first intercity metropolitan bus terminal of this type in the region. The goal of the project is to reduce the cost of electricity for business owners and their customers.

This project will also have a positive impact on the environment, placing itself as the third largest solar rooftop project in Honduras and one of the largest in Central America. With this project Proinso is strengthening its position in Honduras, the company has already supplied the largest rooftop project in the country two years ago – the 3 MW rooftop installation at PepsiCo’s Bottling Plant in San Pedro Sula.

Electric Solar, one of the leading solar companies in Honduras and the EPC behind the project, partnered with Proinso in order to bring this2 MW rooftop solar project to life. Apart from the 2MW supply of its flagship mounting structures, Proinso PV Rack, Proinso will also supply inverters for this project.

This project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017 using MINI-30 structures. MINI-30 is the most compact, rail-free structure from Proinso PV Rack portfolio. It is designed for industrial rooftop projects of trapezoidal shapes where standard PV structures cannot be fastened to the purlins of the building. This product offers straightforward installation and reduced transportation costs.

To meet project-specific requirements, Proinso designed a customized solution for this project that will result in significant cost saving for the customer (50% saving on transportation costs). Product customisation is one of competitive advantages of Proinso PV Rack structures.

Following the week-long visit to Proinso’s HQ in the UK, with a 2-day complementary training session on Proinso PV Rack, TURNSOLE and SMA’s inverter and energy storage solutions, Electric Solar and Proinso have agreed to add a 4MW joint pipeline for Honduras in 2017; setting the ground for a long-term partnership between the two companies.
