The Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) announced a new renewable energy evacuation project from Khavda in Gujarat. The Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) informed the stakeholders regarding the latest development in its filing before the stock exchange.

As per the plan, the company with this project will help in evacuating 7 GW of green power from Khavda. With the passage of time, Khavda renewable project has gained national importance with the massive investments in the region to boost green projects.

“In terms of Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, this is to inform that Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been declared as the successful bidder under Tariff based competitive bidding to establish Inter-State transmission system for the project namely “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from potential renewable energy zone in Khavda area of Gujarat under Phase-IV (7GW): Part B” on build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. The Letter of Intent (LoI) has been received by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited on 19th September 2024,” Powergrid said.

it also added, “The project comprises establishment of new 765/400/220kV (GIS) sub-station at a suitable location near South of Olpad, 765kV & 400kV D/C Transmission Lines and associated bays extension works at other existing substation in the State of Gujarat.”

The demand for larger quantum of renewable power from the region gains importance with the plan of Adani Group to add around 30 GW of renewable power from the region. Adani Group is now working to boost solar, wind and hybrid plants in the region. It has also installed one of the largest wind turbines of 5.2 GW in the region to maximise the production of wind power from the region.

Situated, in the Rann of Kutch, this land has proved to be a good site for the production of wind energy and also offered good annual solar irradiation for the production of solar power from this region.
