Photovoltaik-Institut Berlin Sets Up Indian Subsidiary By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, Nov 15th, 2017 Consultation and monitoring can help developers identify and remedy mistakes during the planning, module production, transport or installation phases. PV Consultancy, Photovoltaik-Institut Berlin (PI Berlin) has established a subsidiary based in Delhi, India. The new company says demand is high in India for services, such as laboratory tests for modules and quality assurance during the planning, construction and operation of photovoltaic plants. Steven Xuereb, Head of the PV Systems Business Unit at PI Berlin, who will manage the newly created company said, “India is a young solar market experiencing dynamic growth. We see great potential here for the provision of services and consultation relating to the planning, construction and operation of solar power plants.” Xuereb will manage the New Delhi based subsidiary along with Dr. Saurabh Kumar, who will act as local coordinator for sales and customer service. India has announced its goal of scaling up its solar power capacity to 100 GW by 2022. “This long-term goal gives the players in the market the security they need to make investments,” says Kumar. In a statement the company said, consultation and monitoring can help developers identify and remedy mistakes during the planning, module production, transport or installation phases. It also noted most of the modules used in India are currently sourced from China. The Photovoltaik-Institut Berlin in a statement mentioned that the arid deserts and tropical forests, inspection of components and system design “particularly challenging.” Steven Xuereb said, “Our lab in Suzhou allows us to provide quality inspections for the Indian market directly in the country of manufacture, so it’s a fast and straightforward process.” Government of India also plans to enhance module quality by introducing its own standard for modules which can be sold in India. “We will be able to help businesses inspect and implement large projects here too”, says Xuereb.
