Philippines Grants 1.97 GW Solar Capacity in Second Green Energy Auction Round The Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) has shared a list of bidders who have won the Second Green Energy Auction Round (GEA-2). The Green Energy Auction Bids Evaluation and Awards Committee has awarded capacity worth 1,870.8 MW for ground-mounted projects and another 90 MW of capacity for floating solar power. 10 MW of capacity has been assigned for rooftop solar while 960.28 MW has been allocated for onshore wind power. As opposed to the final capacity of 1.97 GW that has been awarded, a tender of 11.6 GW of renewable energy capacity, had been planned initially, suggesting that the tender was greatly undersubscribed. The successful project developers selected through bidding will enter into 20-year power purchase agreements. The first round of auction concluded in June last year and awarded renewable energy capacity worth. Of this, 1.49 GW was claimed by solar power. Some of the projects awarded entail the Bongabon Solar Power Project, under which, 30 MW has been allocated to Nuevasol Energy Corp, Sta. Barbara 1 Solar Power Project to Citicore Solar Panganasian. The maximum capacity has been awarded to Ixus Solar Energy Corp for Ixus Bugallon Solar Power Project with over 274 MW of capacity. The list can be accessed here. In February, Philippines-based Altenergy Holdings Corporation won three offshore wind project contracts by the Department of Energy.
