PFC Tenders for Transmission System for 2500 MW WEZ in Tamil Nadu By Ayush Verma/ Updated On Mon, Dec 30th, 2019 State energy transition study PFC has tendered for developing transmission systems for the evacuation of 2500 MW of wind power from the Karur/ Tiruppur WEZ of Tamil Nadu. PFC Consulting, a subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation, has issued a tender for shortlisting transmission service providers to develop transmission systems for the evacuation of 2500 MW of wind power from the Karur/ Tiruppur wind energy zones (WEZ) of Tamil Nadu. The projects are to be developed on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis. The scope of work for the selected bidders will include the establishment, operation, and maintenance of the project. The transmission service provider (TSP) will also be responsible for the completion of activities, including the survey, detailed project report formulation, financing, project management, acquiring necessary permits, land compensation, design, engineering, procurement, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the projects. The TSP shall ensure timely completion of the entire scope of the Project in all respects and its operation and maintenance, as shall be specified in the RFP documents. The TSP will also be responsible for obtaining the Transmission License from the Appropriate Commission, as per the provisions of the Electricity Act and regulations made thereunder, if it is not a deemed licensee. The last date for bid submission is January 17, 2019. As per the new tender documents the RFQ bid process for the scheme “Evacuation of Power from RE Sources in Karur/ Tiruppur Wind Energy Zone (Tamil Nadu) (2500 MW) and Transmission System for providing connectivity to RE projects in Gujarat [Lakadia (2000 MW)]” was initiated on October 21, 2019. Subsequently, the scope of the scheme for “Transmission System for providing connectivity to RE projects in Gujarat [Lakadia (2000 MW)]”, had been put on hold. Accordingly, the RfQ initiated on 21/10/2019 has been annulled and is being re-initiated after excluding the scope of the “Transmission System for providing connectivity to RE projects in Gujarat [Lakadia (2000 MW)+”. The 2.5 GW wind potential identified in Karur/ Tiruppur area of Tamil Nadu has been prioritised under Phase-III for implementation beyond Dec’21. The subject transmission scheme involves the establishment of Karur Pooling Station and its interconnection with the ISTS grid for the evacuation of wind potential from Karur/ Tiruppur area of Tamil Nadu.
