The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had interviewed three candidates – PTC India Director (Marketing) and Business Development Rajib Kumar Mishra, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd Director (Finance) Amitabh Banerjee and SECI Director (Finance) C Kannan – for the SECI MD post, PESB said on its website.

Government head-hunter PESB has asked the renewable energy ministry to choose proper course of action for the selection of SECI MD as three candidates interviewed earlier were found unsuitable for the post.

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had interviewed three candidates – PTC India Director (Marketing) and Business Development Rajib Kumar Mishra, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd Director (Finance) Amitabh Banerjee and SECI Director (Finance) C Kannan – for the SECI MD post, PESB said on its website.

However, the board did not find any of the three candidates suitable for the post, it added.

“The board did not find any candidate suitable, and recommended that the administrative ministry may choose an appropriate course of further action for selection,” PESB said.

The PESB had earlier said that it is seeking qualified candidates for the post of Managing Director, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

“The Managing Director is the chief executive of the corporation and accountable to its board of directors and government/share holder. He is responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters,” according to the government head-hunter.

The SECI was set up as an implementation and facilitation institution dedicated to the solar energy sector under the aegis of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, with the mandate to undertake wide ranging activities under the National Solar Mission.

Accordingly, SECI has ventured into the business of developing ultra-mega solar power projects, development of solar parks, large scale solar power plants as well as into the development of rooftop solar projects and various other decentralized applications.

Now, SECI encompasses total gamut of renewable energy sector of solar, wind, small hydro, biomass, geothermal etc.

The government holds 100 per cent stake in the entity.
