Ørsted Acquires 103 MW Wind Project Through Subsidiary By Ayush Verma/ Updated On Tue, Jul 2nd, 2019 Lincoln Clean Energy, a subsidiary of Ørsted has acquired a 103 MW construction ready wind project in Butte County, South Dakota. Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE), a subsidiary of Ørsted and a leading developer of U.S. renewables, has announced that it has acquired a 103 MW construction ready wind project in Butte County, South Dakota. LCE purchased the project from Pattern Energy Group, an independent renewable energy company with wind and solar assets in the United States, Canada, and Japan. The project is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of 2020. Combined with its Plum Creek wind farm in Nebraska, planned for construction in 2020, this latest acquisition further expands LCE’s operations into the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) market. “The acquisition of this South Dakota wind farm adds to our growing portfolio of onshore wind assets and continues to broaden the geographic footprint of our asset base into the important SPP market,” said Lincoln Clean Energy CEO Declan Flanagan. Recently, we reported that the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has selected Ocean Wind, an offshore wind energy project proposed by Ørsted with support from Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), to negotiate a 20-year offshore wind renewable energy credit (OREC) for an offshore wind farm with a capacity of 1,100MW. Ocean Wind will supply more than half a million New Jersey homes with clean power. The project is expected to create over 3,000 direct jobs annually through the development and the three-year construction cycle. Ørsted is also proceeding with plans to establish an operations and maintenance (O&M) base in Atlantic City that will provide permanent, high-skilled jobs during the 25+ years lifespan of the project. In May, the company announced that it had secured a nominal £900 million (Rs 8171 crore) through the issuance of green senior bonds. The company has revealed that the green bonds have been issued to finance its green growth ambition towards 2025.
