Orb Energy Launches 35 MW Solar Park In Karnataka Orb Energy has launched a 35 MW (DC) ground-mounted solar park in Arsikere in the Hassan district, a significant player in the Indian solar power business, the firm announced on Tuesday. This 110-acre solar park, which produces 5.24 crore units of green power annually and offsets 45,000 tons of carbon dioxide, was built especially to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the area, according to the developers. In a statement, the business stated that Orb Energy plans to invest roughly Rs 2,000 crore over the next ten years in the development and construction of 400 MW of solar parks for SMEs throughout India. By the middle of the current fiscal year, Orb Energy hopes to have completed its SME-centric solar park, which now has 27MW (DC) installed over about 90 acres. With Orb Energy’s unique solar park approach, businesses can buy plots and become the owners of their solar sub-arrays inside the park as a whole. Karnataka SMEs have found great success with this model,” the statement read. “We could see that many SMEs with big power needs and limited roof space needed an off-site solar solution. That is why we launched a unique kind of solar park, enabling SMEs to buy their plots and solar sub-arrays. This innovative approach has been embraced by SMEs across various industries, such as foundries, die-cast companies, precision components, malls, etc – empowering them to take control of their rising electricity bills and enhance their competitiveness,” Damian Miller, cofounder and CEO of Orb Energy said. The company states that throughout the system’s lifetime, owners of off-site solar systems can anticipate decreased electricity prices of roughly 3.5–4.0 rupees per unit, which is much less than the current grid tariff rates of Rs eight–nine per unit. By utilising the current infrastructure for higher generation (which addresses the growing demand for electricity), this arrangement benefits discoms as well as businesses. It also boosts the competitiveness of SMEs. Tags: ground mounted solar park, hassan, Karnataka, Orb Energy, Solar Energy
