OMC Power Commissions 1 MW Rooftop Solar Installation at KGMU Lucknow By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Aug 3rd, 2023 Highlights : As per the current UPPCL tariffs, KGMU is expected to save close to INR 60 lakhs per year and more than INR 15 crores over the lifetime of the project, which is 25 years. Renewable energy firm OMC Power has commissioned a 1 MW rooftop solar installation at the prestigious KGMU (King George’s Medical University) Lucknow. The firm informs that by harnessing solar energy, KGMU is projected to save over 1300 tonnes of CO2 in a calendar year. The MoU between KGMU and OMC Power was signed in February, 2023, for the project valued at INR 5.5 crore. It was revealed that the hospital, under the pact, would be solar solar power for INR 4.99 per unit as opposed to INR 10 per unit, which it had been paying. KGMU has a total electrical load of 13.27 MW. As per the current UPPCL tariffs, KGMU is expected to save close to INR 60 lakhs per year and more than INR 15 crores over the lifetime of the project, which is 25 years. OMC Power completed the KGMU solar installation project on the roofs of fifteen buildings in a period of four months. The initiative is part of UPNEDA’s (Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency) ambition to establish solar plants in government buildings. The said project has been established with the help of OMC Power’s Japanese investors Mitsui co. and Chubu Electric Power Company. KGMU is among the country’s most reputed medical institutions.
