India’s October 2022 Solar Capacity Addition Drops To 810.3 MW, Wind Additions At 178 MW By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, Nov 16th, 2022 Highlights : In October 2022, India added only 810.37 MW of solar energy and just 177.9 MW of wind energy. In solar segments, India added less power in comparison to October 2021. But in the case of wind energy, India added more in comparison to the same month in 2021. October was not a great month for the Indian RE capacity additions. The overall RE capacity additions in comparison to the previous month declined. In October 2022, India added only 810.37 MW of solar energy and just 177.9 MW of wind energy. In the solar sector, India added less capacity in comparison to the month of October in the year 2021. However, in the case of wind energy, India witnessed a rise in comparison to the same month in 2021. This translates to a decline of over 46%. In October 2022, the wind energy capacity stood at just 177.9 MW, while in September 2022, it was 461.4 MW. This shows a great decline in wind energy of over 76%. If we combine solar energy and wind energy, in September 2022 India added around 1972.6 MW while in October 2022, India added just 988.27 MW. It’s a sharp decline of 49.9% India Crossed 11 GW of Solar Installations in First Six Months of FY 22-23 Also Read Q4 comparisons (Y-o-Y) October marks the first month of Q4. If we see the Q4 of CY-2022 and compare it with the Q4 of 2021, India just added 810.37 MW, while in the same month in 2021, India added 1390.75 MW of solar energy. In the solar energy segment, we can see a Y-oY decline of 41%. In the case of wind energy, India added just 177.9 MW of wind energy, while in the same period last year, India added 119.65 MW of wind energy. Here we can see a Y-o-Y growth of 32% Solar Capacity Additions Continue to Slow Down, July 2022 Records Barely 270 MW Also Read Second-Half (H2) of 2022 vs Second-Half (H2) of 2021 In the first 4 months of H2 of 2022, India added 3918.55 MW of solar energy and 1055.95 MW of wind energy. While in the same period last year, India added 5330.4 MW of solar energy and 503.45 MW of wind energy. Here we can see a decline of 26% in the solar energy capacity and a growth of 52% in the wind energy capacity. State-Wise Renewable Energy Installation Data If we saw the upper graph, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh are the top ten states in renewable energy contribution in these 11 months of current CY (2022).
