O2 Power Signs PPA With Railways To Supply Renewable Power Indian renewable energy company O2 Power has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with East Central Railway (ECR) to supply renewable power. The energy will be sourced from O2 Power’s 360 MW installed capacity spanning Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka. This aligns with Indian Railways’ efforts to achieve net-zero emissions. Indian Railways has planned to go net-zero by 2030. Several zones of the Indian railways have now planned to invest in renewable energy to decarbonize their operations. A number of railway stations have now become net-zero by adopting green energy. Supporting Indian Railways’ Net-Zero Vision East Central Railways, a major division of Indian Railways, will leverage this agreement to directly power its operations with green energy, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. As Indian Railways intensifies its renewable energy investments, many railway stations are on the cusp of achieving net-zero energy status, thanks to clean energy adoption. Commenting on the development, Parag Sharma, Founder and CEO of O2 Power, said: “This PPA with ECR is a significant step in enabling Indian Railways to go green. At O2 Power, we are proud to contribute to this transformative journey by ensuring a round-the-clock (RTC) supply of clean energy to the grid.” O2 Power’s Growing Renewable Portfolio Nevertheless, O2 Power stated that its renewable energy projects have a total portfolio exceeding 6 GW, spread across multiple Indian states. The company focuses on developing, constructing, and operating renewable energy projects, including solar and wind power. About O2 Power Established in 2020, O2 Power is a renewable energy platform.
