NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited has issued multiple tenders to solarise different DRDO premises in India. The latest tenders interestingly mandated the installation of high efficient solar modules for these projects. Most of these tenders have their submission dates between February 15 and February 18.

The tender has demanded a minimum Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) of 21%, which is not very common for rooftop solar project tenders. Moreover, the tender also demanded ensuring the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of these projects for 10 years after the commissioning of these plants.

The tender talks about the design, installation and operations of these grid-connected rooftop solar projects. These projects will be installed on the premises of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in cities like New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore. It has allocated different capacities for these projects.

For example-NVVN said that planned 1300 kW capacity for DRDO properties in New Delhi. It has also earmarked 8 MW of rooftop solar capacity for the Hyderabad campus and 2.7 MW of rooftop solar projects for its Bangalore DRDO campus.

Technical Specifications

The NVVN tender has demanded the utilisation of only those solar modules that are enlisted under the Approved List Of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). It said that solar nodules of a minimum of 540 Wp would be used in these projects with a yearly degradation factor of not more than 0.7%.

“Solar PV modules used in solar power plants/ systems must be warranted for their output peak watt capacity, which should not be less than 90% at the end of 10 years and 80% at the end of 25 years,” the NVVN tender said.

NVVN, earlier has also taken initiatives to boost the growth of rooftop solar projects across India. A few months back, the institution announced tenders to add new rooftop solar capacities on the premises of Assam Rifles in Northeast. It also issued tenders for adding new solar capacities to the NTPC campus of Ramagundam in Telangana.
