NTPC-Ramagundam Invites Bids To Build 100MW/400MWh BESS

NTPC-Ramagundam in Telangana has issued a tender to build grid-connected 100MW/400MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Through this tender, NTPC has planned to develop renewable energy solutions and support the same through energy storage. The deadline for bid submissions is set for November 6, 2024.

The successful bidder will be responsible for developing, installing, and commissioning the grid-connected BESS. Additionally, they must gather site-specific data from the owner to prepare installation and implementation plans. The winning bidder will also be expected to identify and provide any other necessary equipment, components, and services required to ensure the system is fully operational.

The BESS will feature a 100 MW and 400 MWh rated AC discharge capacity at a 33kV switchgear interconnection point, with a designed service life of 20 years. The contract also includes comprehensive Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of the BESS for 10 years following the successful completion of the trial run.

The tender also mandated the successful bidder to build a system which will include components such as the Battery System, Battery Management System (BMS), Energy Management System (EMS), SCADA, Power Conversion System (PCS), protection systems, communication systems, HT & LT systems, auxiliary power, monitoring and control systems, fire fighting, remote control and monitoring, and all other necessary materials and accessories to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of the BESS.

The tender expects bid to have an average annual turnover of the Bidder, should not be less than Rs.  3060 Million (or in equivalent foreign currency, during the preceding three financial years as on the date of techno-commercial bid opening.

NTPC-Ramagundam is one of the leading thermal power stations in South India. It also hogged limelight after commissioning India’s largest floating solar power plant for 100 MW. The latest tender has now planned to augment its renewable power projects. This comes at a time when the Indian power behemoth is working to boost the growth of solar, wind and other renewable projects and now working to augment its reliability through BESS projects.
