NTPC Plans To Develop 300 MW Solar Project, Issues Tender NTPC

NTPC recently released a tender to develop a 300 MW ground-mounted solar project and terminal bay near the NTPC Anta substation. It is accepting bids until 5th December 2024.

The bidder will be responsible for arranging the land for the solar project and for the design, engineering, manufacturing, transportation, storage, installation, and commissioning of the solar project.

The tender specifies that the bidder will be responsible for the identification, acquisition, and complete transfer of ownership or lease of encumbrance-free land in favor of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited.

The bidder will also be tasked with extending the 220 kV bus and supplying, erecting, and commissioning a new 220 kV bay at the NTPC Anta 220 kV switchyard. Additionally, they will undertake the development of dedicated transmission lines, including right-of-way (ROW) from the solar plant to the NTPC Anta substation.

The bidder must complete all EPC works required for the development of the Solar PV project, using open-category PV modules, along with a power evacuation system up to the NTPC Anta 220 kV switchyard and telemetry up to the ISTS pooling substation through the NTPC Anta substation, as per detailed technical specifications and applicable standards. Specifications also include CCTV and other items necessary for grid compliance, such as reactive power compensation and harmonics control.

The operation and maintenance of the entire Solar PV plant, including the switchyard and power evacuation system to the NTPC Anta substation (and the developed bay at the NTPC Anta substation), will also be required, along with consumables and spare parts for a period of three (3) years from the date of commissioning.

NTPC Anta’s Previous Project

Earlier this year, Amara Raja Infra Private Limited (ARIPL), Amara Raja Infra Commissioned NTPC’s Anta (Ground Mounted) Solar PV Project of 90 MW/135MWp. This project was a part of the $2 billion Amara Raja Group. This project, spanning across 437-acres site in Anta, Baran District of Rajasthan, is the country’s first Balance of System (BoS) Solar contract awarded in 2021 from a CPSU. It is set to generate 213 million units of green energy per year and is commissioned in the existing premises of gas-fired thermal power station of NTPC in Anta.

The landmark project is part of ARIPL’s current 2000MW Solar PV Portfolio and constructed transmission infrastructure for evacuation of over 7500MW of renewable energy through EHV Sub-Station and Transmission lines in India. NTPC Ltd. is India’s largest integrated power utility, contributing 1/4th of the power requirement of the country. It has a diverse portfolio of thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants spread across the country
