NTPC Plans 813 MW Wind Project In Bellary, Issues Tender By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Mar 28th, 2025 Highlights : It set April 15, 2025, as the last date for bid submission. NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has invited bids for the supply and installation of wind turbine generators (WTGs) for an 813 MW (271 WTG) wind energy project in Bellary, Karnataka. The NTPC tender specifies that the wind energy project must have a minimum capacity of 813 MW, corresponding to 271 locations. It set April 15, 2025, as the last date for bid submission. Technical Criteria As per the tender’s technical criteria, bidders must be manufacturers of an approved Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) model with a minimum rating of 3,000 kW, listed in the latest RLMM (Revised List of Models and Manufacturers) issued by MNRE before the date of the techno-commercial bid opening. Additionally, bidders must offer WTGs with a minimum capacity of 3.0 MW for the wind farm and provide UL-certified Annual Energy Production (AEP) data. With the strong order books wind energy firms are enjoying currently, there seems every possibility that the order will be divided among multiple firms. Wind Energy Expansion in Karnataka Amazon has also announced investments in Karnataka’s wind energy sector this year. The company stated, “Amazon has invested in a 100 MW wind farm at CleanMax Koppal in Karnataka, a 99 MW wind project at BluPine Solapur in Maharashtra, and a 180 MW wind project at JSW Energy Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu. These projects will contribute to India’s renewable energy goals and generate numerous construction jobs in their respective regions.” With Wind energy eying a strong run thanks to stronger corporate demand for FDRE or RTC projects as well, the picture will soon shift to repowering existing sites where WTG’s with capacities under 1 MW or even 500 kW are installed. A solution would be most welcome at these sites as it will help save time for land acquisition and other approvals possibly if the new policies are friendly enough.
