NTPC Limited Reports 14% Jump In Net Profits In Q2 NTPC

NTPC Limited today issued its financial results for the second quarter (Q2) of FY25. The firm’s latest results reported a 14 percent growth in net profits.

On a standalone basis, NTPC’s total income for H1 FY25 was ₹86,298 crore, compared to ₹81,199 crore for the same period last year. Profit After Tax (PAT) for H1 FY25 reached ₹9,160 crore, an increase of 15.2% from ₹7,951 crore in H1 FY24. On a consolidated basis, the group’s Total Income for H1 FY25 is ₹ 94,179 crore as against the corresponding previous period total income of ₹ 88,775 crore. Profit After Tax (PAT) of the group for H1 FY25 is ₹ 10,886 crore as against the corresponding previous period PAT of ₹ 9,634 crore, registering an increase of 13%.  The Board of Directors has approved the First interim dividend for FY25 @ 25 % of paid-up share capital i.e., ₹2.50 per equity share of face value of ₹10/- each.

India’s power behemoth, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), has installed over 76 GW of capacity, according to the company’s unaudited financial results for the quarter and half-year ending September 30, released on October 24, 2024.

The NTPC Group generated 220 billion units in H1 FY25, compared to 212 billion units in H1 FY24. NTPC’s standalone gross generation in H1 FY25 was 186 billion units, up from 179 billion units in the corresponding period last year. NTPC‘s coal stations achieved a Plant Load Factor of 76.31%, outperforming the national average of 70.63% during H1 FY25.

According to company’s result, NTPC reported profit for the period 30th September 2024 to the same period last year i.e., 2023, the company reported 0.138% profit.

According to NTPC’s half-year result, it reached a total installed change of 76,443 MW till 30th September 2024 from 73,824 MW last year in 30 September 2023. Similar growth was observed in NTPC’s Installed Capacity (NTPC Standalone) which increased to 59,168 MW from 57,838 MW (YoY). Moreover, there was a change observed in the company’s Commercial Capacity (NTPC Group) which increased to 76,443 MW from 73,824 MW. The thermal company observed growth in its Commercial Capacity (NTPC Standalone) segment which increased to 59,168 MW from 57,838 MW.

NTPC Pivot To Renewable Energy

India’s power behemoth, NTPC Limited is now all set to achieve 30 GW of renewable capacity in the next few years. As per the company’s top management, the company currently has a total renewable portfolio of 3.6 GW. However the current pace of work goes on, the Indian Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) is set to reach that number.

The information was recently shared by the top management at a recent investors call, meant to discuss the annual and quarterly financial results of the company.

“The NTPC group is deeply committed to advancing Renewable Energy initiatives. As of now, we have successfully commissioned 3.6 GW of Renewable Energy projects. Currently, an additional 8.4 GW of Renewable Energy projects are in various stages of construction. Moreover, we have 11.2 GW of Renewable Energy Projects under tendering process, further 6.6 GW Equivalent land with connectivity tenders are under process, and a substantial 4.8 GW Equivalent Land Bank is at our disposal already,” the NTPC management said as per the investors’ call transcript of NTPC filed before BSE.
