NTPC Issues Tender To Build Pilot BESS At Dadri Thermal Plant By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Jan 16th, 2025 Highlights : Bids from interested parties are sought until February 10, 2025. BESS Project NTPC recently issued a tender to build and test a pilot project for proof of concept to replace diesel generators (DGs) with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the Dadri Thermal Plant. The plant will be located at NTPC Dadri Stage-I. NTPC sought bids from interested parties until February 10, 2025. Prior Experience The bidder will undertake the comprehensive annual maintenance contract (CAMC) of the battery energy storage system (BESS) for 10 years. To develop the project, the bidders are expected to have prior experience in the manufacturing and commissioning of grid-interactive battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a minimum capacity of 2000 kWh in one or more orders over the last 10 years. NTPC in its tender stated, “The bidder is expected to have developed at least one such reference project with a minimum capacity of 700 kWh that has been in successful operation for at least six months prior to the date of the techno-commercial bid opening.” The tender further added, “The bidder should have executed projects in the last 10 years as an EPC contractor in the area of Battery Energy Storage Projects, Solar PV Projects (Ground Mounted, Rooftop, or Floating), Wind Power Projects, or a combination thereof, with a value of ₹561 Lakhs or more in a single project or single work. The bidder must have been in successful operation for at least six months prior to the date of the techno-commercial bid opening.” The tender added, “The developer would develop a battery energy storage system with a minimum capacity of 700 kWh to be located at a single location, the project should be developed either for the bidder itself or any other client.” NTPC Expands BESS Project Across Its Thermal Stations NTPC is making a series of efforts to expand BESS projects across its thermal power stations. For instance, NTPC REL, its renewable energy arm, recently released a BESS tender for thermal stations. Its earlier tender sought to develop a 2500 MW/10,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project across its thermal power stations. The recent tender aims to develop similar projects at NTPC thermal power stations.
