NTPC Issues BOS Tender for ISTS Connected Wind Projects Worth 1 GW in Gujarat NTPC Ltd Reports 13 Percent Rise In PAT In H1 of FY24

The wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, NTPC Renewable Energy has issued a mega tender for the balance of system package of ISTS-connected wind power projects worth 1 GW in Gujarat. The tender marks one of the larger push for onshore wind in India, a sector that has been noticeably lagging solar power growth in the past three years. After falling behind solar in total capacity in 2022, wind energy is expected to trail solar in overall generation too this year.

The last date for bids submission is February 28, 2023. The bids will open on the same day.

The bidder will be responsible for the O&M of the system for a period of three years.

The scope of the work entails detailed design, engineering, micro-siting, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and proving the guaranteed performance parameters for installation of the offered wind farm starting from 33kV internal evacuation lines from unit substation, pooling substation, central monitoring and control station (CMCS), reactive power compensating devices, wind monitoring mast(s), external EHV transmission line till ISTS substation etc.

The Bidder should have executed an industrial project either as developer or as EPC contractor in the area of power/ steel/ oil and gas/ petro-chemical/ fertilizer/ cement or any other process industry, of minimum financial figure as stipulated by NTPC. projects executed in the past 10 years shall be eligible to be considered.  For this, for total quoted capacity ranging from 50 MW to 300 MW, the minimum financial figured should be INR 40 Crores. For more than 300 MW, it should have been INR 0.14 Crores/ MW.

The Supply, Civil Works and Installation of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), unit substation & SCADA are not in the scope of Wind BOS Development package.

The offered wind project by the bidder shall be compatible for installation of any WTG of size ranging from 2.7 MW to higher WTG Machine size as available in market. WTG machine will need to be  (Revised List of Modules & Manufacturers) RLMM listed.

The bidder should have executed/ got executed following works for wind project(s) of cumulative capacity 40 MW or higher, out of which at least one wind project should be of 10 MW or higher capacity.

Wind projects in Gujarat

Gujarat is becoming a prominent destination for wind projects in India. Last year, India’s largest wind turbine was set up in Mundra, Gujarat by ANIL.

NTPC has been undertaking a series of wind projects in Gujarat. In November 2022, National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) Renewables had floated a balance of system (BOS) tender package for a 1200 MW (4 X 300 MW) solar project at Khavda RE power park, Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.

Previously, India’s largest energy conglomerate revealed that the enterprise’s first part (10 MW) of 20 MW Solar PV Project in Gandhar, Gujarat had achieved completion.

NTPC REL will also establish India’s largest solar park with 4750 MW capacity at Rann of Kutch.

The government has stated an ambition to tender out 8 GW of wind tenders each year in a fresh policy thrust for the sector. MNRE had also done away with reverse bidding for future wind tenders. With multiple hybrid projects using wind and solar planned as the share of renewable energy goes up in the grid, wind energy is expected to return to strong growth path over the next few years.
