NTPC Delivers 295.4 Billion Units , Growth Of 11.6% During Apr-Dec 2022

NTPC Delivers 295.4 Billion Units , Growth Of 11.6% During Apr-Dec 2022 Energy conglomerate NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) has issued a tender for the power evacuation Infrastructure package under development of 4750 MW solar park at Khavda, Gujarat. 

National Thermal Power Corporation, India’s largest power generating company, has announced that it has recorded a generation of 295.4 billion units of power during April to December period of 2022. NTPC held that through this it has registered a growth of 11.6 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year (2021).

NTPC also said that on a standalone basis, the company has generated 254.6 billion units during April to December period of 2022 which is an increase of 16.1 per cent over the previous year.

The coal plants registered a plant load factor (PLF) of 73.7 per cent for 9-months period in FY23 compared to 68.5 per cent in FY22 for the same period.

NTPC also continued its strong show in captive coal production by achieving 14.6 MMT of production, registering a growth of 51 per cent vis-à-vis the previous year for the same period.

NTPC informed that the group’s installed capacity stands 70824 MW as of Dec 31, 2022. Recently, the company has crossed 3 GW of renewable energy capacity. NTPC wants to have at least 60 GW of renewable energy generation constituting nearly 45% of its overall power generation capacity by 2032.

As far as Developer Mode Projects are concerned, 192 MW of RE projects are operational and 970 MW is under implementation. NTPC acts as an intermediary procurer where it procures power from the Developers and sells to DISCOMs with a trading margin.

In the second quarter financial results, the state owned power company registered the net sales at Rs 44,175 crore in September 2022 up 36 per cent from Rs. 32,403 crore from the corresponding quarter of previous year. Net profit decreased by 7.25 per cent and stood at Rs. 3,338 crore in the second quarter. That number should move up sharply in the coming quarters as the impact of higher tariffs cascades down to the generator.
