NTPC, Chhattisgarh Genco To Build 2 GW Renewable Energy Projects By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Wed, Nov 27th, 2024 Highlights : To increase the solar capacity in Chhattisgarh beyond the existing 1,265.78 MW, this latest project aims to deploy floating solar technology to save land space. Floating solar technology also offers scalability and flexibility, making it suitable for mini-grids, off-grid power supplies, and large-scale projects. Recently NTPC, Chhattisgarh Genco To Build 2 GW Renewable Energy Projects NTPC recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Co. Ltd. (CSPGCL) to develop up to 2 GW of renewable energy projects, including floating solar projects. To initiate the creation of this project, Chief Engineer (CP & BD) of CSPGCL, G. K. Gupta, and General Manager (Engineering) of NGEL, D. Joshi, exchanged the MoU in the presence of S. K. Katiyar, Managing Director of CSPGCL, P. K. Solar In Chhattisgarh To increase the solar capacity in Chhattisgarh beyond its existing 1,265.78 MW capacity, this latest project aims to deploy floating solar technology to save land space. Floating solar technology also offers scalability and flexibility, making it suitable for mini-grids, off-grid power supplies, and large-scale projects. Recently, Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDC India) issued a tender inviting bids for the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for floating solar projects in the state. Other companies like BluPine Energy also secured Rs. 239 crore recently through financial assistance from Tata Capital, which the company plans to use for a solar power project in Chhattisgarh. The state has also gained attention for commissioning one of the largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in India. This project, executed by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has a 40 MW / 120 MWh BESS and a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant with an installed capacity of 152.325 MW. The plant has a dispatchable capacity of 100 MW AC (155.02 MW peak DC) and is located in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project on February 24, 2024.
