The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), along with SolarPower Europe, has jointly launched the Indian edition of the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) best practices for solar during the Smarter E India conference. With an objective to have a common standard document that all stakeholders can agree on and collectively refer to, this document was prepared by 40 experts from both Indian and European Solar industries representing IPPs, rooftop solar players, manufacturers, O&M service providers. This initiative was supported by the Indo German Energy Forum (IGEF). This occasion was graced by Dr. Nicole Glanemann the Deputy Head of Division, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Government of Germany, who appreciated NSEFI and SolarPower Europe’s efforts in bringing the industry in India and Europe together to create a reference document on O&M which is a key subject for sustainable operations of solar assets. She emphasised the growing importance of O&M and highlighted that India is already a USD 300 million O&M market which is poised to exponentially grow to make it very important to have industry-accepted standards and best practices in place. Speaking on the occasion, Pranav Mehta, Chairman of NSEFI said “Many NSEFI members consisting of leading Indian Solar Power Developers/IPPs, rooftop developers, manufacturers, O&M service providers contributed to this report and I truly believe this report signifies the importance of qualitative asset operation and management Indian industry adopts. I am very happy to also note that almost a year and half ago NSEFI and SolarPower Europe signed an MoU of mutual cooperation and it is very encouraging to see the cooperation yielding good results in such a short period of time. I am optimistic that in the coming days NSEFI and SolarPower Europe will continue working closely and connect the Indian and European Solar industry stakeholders in a more engaging manner with innovative initiatives like manufacturing, green Hydrogen and PV recycling.” Tags: IGEF, India, NSEFI, NSEFI Solar O&M, O&M, operation and maintenance, Solar, SolarPower Europe
