NPO GOGLA Invites Bids For Solar Market Consultants For Study On Solar Lanterns & SHS

The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) has issued a call for proposals for a solar market expert to do market research on solar household systems and lanterns in India. The consultants will have to conduct a short analysis of Bangladesh’s and Nepal’s distributed renewable energy markets.

Offers must be submitted before September 9, 2022. The final presentation of the study has to be completed within a timeframe of 18 weeks.

India continues to be one of the biggest markets for solar lanterns and solar home systems, even if sales of quality-verified goods have decreased since 2019 according to GOGLA’s semi-annual market sales statistics.

Even though sales in India dropped from 953,000 between January and June 2019 to a low of 329,000 between January and June 2021, current sources suggest an increase to 457,000 between July and December 2021.

The study will aid in educating GOGLA (The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association) and its members on the state of the market now as well as its requirements and potential in the future.

The purpose of the study is to examine the causes of India’s waning interest in solar home lighting and systems. In addition, it will go into detail about how solar home systems and solar lanterns are used now and in the future in India, taking into account the country’s expanding access to electricity and shifting consumer preferences for different product types.

Additionally, it will assist the organization in comprehending the situation of the solar lantern and solar home system markets in Bangladesh and Nepal in terms of existing and future demand, as well as trends, laws, and appliance-related solutions. participation of the private sector.

A track record of completing research projects of similar breadth and complexity must exist for the consulting company to be successful. It should know about the off-grid lighting and electrification industry, especially in India, and have an expertise in creating and implementing research designs for and with the private sector. The company must have expertise in producing superior English-language written reports.

GOGLA has allocated $30,000 for the project, including taxes and all other costs. The technical proposal should include the resumes of the major members of the research team, as well as a description of the planned method and work schedule for carrying out the project.

Last year in July, GOGLA had conducted a survey of 33 solar equipment manufacturers, primarily SHS Kit manufacturers, to understand the impact of disruptions caused by materials shortages and raised shipping costs on the off-grid solar industry.
