NLC India Signs Pact With Assam Utility To Spur Solar Projects By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Jan 13th, 2025 NLC India Signs Pact With Assam Utility To Spur Solar Projects NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited, has signed a Joint Venture (JV) agreement with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) to bolster energy security and promote solar energy in Assam. The pact aims to establish 1,000 MW of green energy projects, reinforcing the state’s commitment to sustainable power solutions. The signing ceremony took place in Guwahati, symbolizing the commitment of both organizations to advance renewable energy initiatives in Assam. NIRL, focused on consolidating and expanding renewable assets, plays a pivotal role in driving NLC India’s mission for energy transition and environmental sustainability. Key Highlights of the Joint Venture Under the agreement, a Joint Venture Company (JVC) will be formed with NIRL holding a 51% equity share and APDCL holding 49%. NIRL will contribute its expertise in renewable project development, while APDCL will manage land acquisition, regulatory clearances, and power evacuation infrastructure. Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) will be signed with Assam DISCOMs for selling 100% of the generated power for a tenure of 25 years. The collaboration aims to address Assam’s increasing energy demand by ensuring a steady, affordable, and reliable power supply while supporting long-term energy security. To Spur Assam’s RE Growth Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman of NIRL, highlighted the transformative impact of the partnership: “This Joint Venture signifies our collective resolve to empower Assam with clean and sustainable energy solutions.
