NIWE Plans to Hold Workshop and Conference on Small Wind Turbines By Anirudh Sharma/ Updated On Tue, Aug 21st, 2018 The workshop and conference is aimed at bringing a wide national & international audience under one umbrella to build, learn and compare global small wind turbine know-how. Enabling small wind turbine players, National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has planned to organize a 14-day workshop and conference on Small Wind Turbines at its Kayathar and Chennai premises of Tamil Nadu. The workshop and conference is aimed at bringing a wide national & international audience under one umbrella to build, learn and compare global small wind turbine know-how. Further, the main objective of the conference is the exchange of open source technical advances, share experiences and discuss global best practices to enable the technology to expand rural wind electrification globally, with a particular emphasis on India. The small wind turbines are seen as an important asset of any country keeping in view the low physical energy requirement to rotate the turbine. Small wind turbine (SWT) technology can also be a meaningful contributor to the energy security, strategic technology and long-term economic growth. According to the institute’s plan, the workshop ‘Hands-on workshop for Small Wind Turbine Technology’ will be held from November 30 to December 9, 2018 at Kayathar premises. Whereas, International Small Wind Empowerment Conference will be held from December 10 to December 13, 2018 at Chennai premises. Moreover, the sessions will include a wide range of subjects on Small wind turbine technology.
