NIWE & NLCIL Collaborate to Build Onshore, Offshore Wind Power Plants By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Oct 20th, 2022 Highlights : To collaborate strategically on the development of onshore and offshore wind power projects in India, NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) and the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), an independent R&D organisation under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). On October 19, 2022, at the NIWE headquarters in Pallikaranai, Chennai, the MoU was signed and exchanged by Dr. K. Balraman, Director General (NIWE), and Shri. K. Mohan Reddy, Director (Planning & Projects), NLCIL. To collaborate strategically on the development of onshore and offshore wind power projects in India, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited India Ltd (NLCIL) and the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE)- an independent R&D organization under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). NIWE and NLCIL Collaboration The MoU was signed and exchanged at the NIWE headquarters in Pallikaranai, Chennai, in the presence of Dr. K. Balraman, Director General (NIWE), and K. Mohan Reddy, Director (Planning & Projects), NLCIL. The MoU will facilitate cooperation on technical services and advice for the advancement of onshore and offshore wind energy projects. Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, discussed NLCIL’s vision and corporate plan concerning renewable energy projects. In his speech, Dr. K. Balraman, Director General of NIWE, emphasised the significance of RE resource evaluation given its financial impact on the project. The Director (P&P), NLCIL, highlighted NLCIL’s capabilities for RE projects. NLCIL has taken the aforementioned action to support the national green energy targets and the goal of the energy transition. The goal of this MoU is to combine NIWE’s technical know-how with NLCIL’s project development competencies. Through the MoU, it is also envisioned that the current wind power projects will gain from repowering their existing turbines and from enhanced O&M procedures. In addition to the aforementioned, NIWE will provide NLCIL with competence-building training in the most recent advancements in the RE sector.
