NHPC REL Issues Bid For Rooftop Solar RESCO Projects In Sikkim nhpc

NHPC recently released a tender for its subsidiary NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NHPC REL) to build a rooftop solar project in Sikkim. The Roof Top Developer (RTD) would develop the project to create grid-connected solar rooftop plants at various government buildings on RESCO Mode. The bids are accepted until February 24. 

The NHPC project will be commissioned nine months after the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is signed. The bidder is expected to meet certain qualifications, for instance, the tender stated, “The bidder must have designed, supplied, erected, and commissioned Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) based grid-connected power plant(s) of cumulative installed capacity of 400 kWp or higher. It would have experience in developing at least one plant should have been of 40kWp or more.”

The tender laid down certain qualifications, “The bidder should have executed in the last ten years either as a developer or as EPC Contractor in the process industry or infrastructure development of single work having a minimum value of Rs. 4.0 Crores. The Bidder should have executed at least one Electrical Sub-station of 11 kV or above voltage level, consisting of equipment such as 11 kV or above voltage level circuit breakers and Power transformer, either as a developer or as an EPC Contractor which should be commissioned up to the last date of submission of a bid.”

Rooftop Solar Project On The Rise In North East

At the onset of the year, 2025, NHPC opened its tender to develop rooftop solar power projects on Zone-IV  (North East Power Stations) buildings. This project falls under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Bidders must submit their bids by January 15, 2025.

The bids are valid for 120 days from the last date of online submission. The tender mandates that the rooftop solar project under the PM Surya Ghar scheme be developed within nine months from the award date. For the O&M part, the project must be completed within five years from commissioning.
