NHPC Discovers A Tariff Of Rs 3.41/kwh For 1.2 GW Hybrid Project

Adani Green, Sprng Vayu Vidyut (Sprng Energy), Illuminate Hybrid (Mahindra Susten), and Avaada Energy have secured NHPC’s 1.2 GW wind-solar hybrid tender. NHPC had initiated the tender process to identify renewable energy developers for hybrid projects, strengthening its green portfolio. The tender was issued in January, and results were announced within two months.

NHPC awarded the projects to leading renewable energy firms and their subsidiaries: Adani Renewable Energy Holding Twelve (Adani Green Energy), Sprng Vayu Vidyut (Sprng Energy), Illuminate Hybrid (Mahindra Susten), and Avaada Energy. According to the results, Adani Renewable Energy secured the largest share with 600 MW, while Sprng Energy won 150 MW. Mahindra Susten’s Illuminate Hybrid bagged 240 MW, all at a tariff of ₹3.41/kWh. Meanwhile, Avaada Energy won 210 MW at ₹3.42/kWh.

Comparison with Previous Tenders

The discovered tariffs in NHPC’s latest hybrid tender were slightly higher compared to similar projects by other central public sector enterprises (CPSEs). NTPC, in its previous 1.2 GW wind-solar hybrid tender, achieved a lower tariff of ₹3.38/kWh. NTPC awarded 350 MW to JSP Green (Jindal Renewables), with other bidders including Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra), Green Prairie Energy IV (EverGreen Power), AMPIN Energy Utility, and Adani Renewable Energy Holding Twelve (Adani Green).

Similarly, in another 1.2 GW wind-solar hybrid tender, SJVN achieved an even lower tariff of ₹3.19/kWh. The awarded developers included Datta Infra, Gentari India, Juniper Green Energy, EG Energy, and Sunsure Energy, all securing projects at ₹3.19/kWh.

NHPC’s tender results highlight the ongoing competition in India’s hybrid renewable sector, with tariffs fluctuating across different CPSE-led auctions.
