Stellantis And CATL to Invest Up to €4.1 Billion in Joint Venture for Large-Scale LFP Battery Plant in Spain

Stellantis, the maker of the iconic JEEP,  and CATL recently reached an agreement to invest up to €4.1 billion to form a joint venture that will build a large-scale European lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery plant in Zaragoza, Spain. Designed to be completely carbon neutral, the battery plant will be implemented in several phases and investment plans.

Targeted to start production by the end of 2026 at Stellantis’ Zaragoza, Spain site, the facility could reach up to 50 GWh capacity, subject to the evolution of the electrical market in Europe and continued support from authorities in Spain and the European Union. The 50-50 joint venture between CATL and Stellantis will boost Stellantis’ best-in-class LFP offer in Europe enabling the automaker to offer more high-quality, durable, and affordable battery-electric passenger cars, crossovers, and SUVs in the B and C segments with intermediate ranges.

Husk Power Sets Record 1-Mini-Grid-Per-Day Deployment Rate With Launch Of PRISM “energy-in-a-box”

Husk Power Systems launched PRISM, a containerized clean energy solution that accelerates by 100% the deployment rate of solar hybrid mini-grids and C&I systems in rural and peri-urban Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Developed by Husk’s technology center of excellence in India, PRISM (Power Resilience and Intelligent System Management).

It connects and powers 20 homes and 20 businesses within 48 hours of deployment. It decreases capital expenditure per site by at least 7%. It also reduced operational expenditure by 20% standardizing pre-deployment design and testing. PRISM will also be available in Sub-Saharan Africa starting in Q1 2025, including Husk’s primary market Nigeria, where the company has signed a framework agreement with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to build 250MW of decentralized renewable energy projects. The World Bank says 160,000 mini-grids would be the least-cost solution for electrifying 380 million people living off the grid in Sub-Saharan Africa.

EVLO Delivers Its First Battery Energy Storage System To California

EVLO Energy Storage Inc. (EVLO), a fully integrated battery energy storage systems (BESS) provider and wholly owned subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, is pleased to announce the successful delivery of battery energy storage units for its first BESS project in California.

The project, with a capacity of 12 MW / 64 MWh, will be commissioned in the spring of 2025. Its applications include multiple grid benefits, including enabling greater solar integration, peak shaving, and ancillary services such as frequency and voltage regulation. EVLO was selected for its proven ability to deliver a comprehensive, multi-purpose BESS solution that maximizes value for both the grid and project stakeholders.
