RWE To Invest In The Construction Of Australia’s first eight-hour battery

German developer RWE has declared its intention to invest in the construction of Australia’s first eight-hour battery, which will be located close to an existing solar farm at Balranald, New South Wales. The first Long Duration Storage Long-Term Energy Service Agreements tender procedure in New South Wales resulted in only one project being awarded a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement, which was RWE’s 50MW Limondale eight-hour lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The Limondale BESS, which is expected to have a capacity of more than 50MW and more than 400-megawatt hours (MWh), will aid in the energy transition by storing excess renewable energy and supplying it to the NSW grid when it is most needed.

Sineng Electric Powers a 100MW/200MWh Energy Storage Project in China
