News Brief May 23 – Atiaia Energia, Babcock & Wilcox Solar Energy, MG Motors By Akash Dhiman/ Updated On Thu, May 23rd, 2024 News In Brief Sept 5: Canadian Solar, SOLARCYCLE Ink Recycling Pact V.tal Signs Solar Energy Agreements with Atiaia Energia and Atlas Brasil Energia Digital services and telecommunications infrastructure provider V.tal has inked two major agreements for solar energy self-production. These CADE-approved agreements comprise collaborations with Atlas Brasil Energia and Atiaia Energia, two generators. As per the terms of the deal with Atiaia Energia, V.tal will form two consortia consisting of a firm within the V.tal group and the Atiaia-controlled special purpose entities Sol do Agreste Geração de Energia Ltda and Solar do Nordeste Energia Renovável Ltda. These consortiums will support the electrical energy self-production project for the joint use of the Sol do Agreste I, IV, and V projects. With a total capacity of 103 MW, this solar installation is situated in the Pernambuco towns of Tacaimbó and São Caetano. Babcock & Wilcox Solar Energy Inks Deal With Jones Power For 50 MW Solar Projects In Pennsylvania Babcock & Wilcox Solar Energy, Inc. (B&W Solar) has selected Jones Power to handle the civil construction for two utility-scale solar projects in Western Pennsylvania totaling 25 megawatts each. The construction is expected to be finished by the summer of 2024, having started in March of that year. AXS Energia Secures $31.3 Million for Distributed Solar Energy Projects Across Brazil AXS Energia, a renewable energy firm within the Roca group, has announced that it would consolidate into a new long-term operation in the first quarter of 2024. The $31.3 million project is intended to fund distributed micro and minigeneration solar energy facilities. AXS Delaware, a division of AXS Energia, obtained the credit loan by using money from the CIFI and Triodos organizations. With a total installed capacity of 39.7 MWp, these funds will help build 14 solar energy production plants in the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Paraná. MG Motor Partners With Vertelo To Deliver 3,000 EVs MG Motor India has signed an initial pact with integrated fleet electrification platform Vertelo to deliver 3,000 EVs in phases. Vertelo, established by Macquarie Asset Management and backed by the Green Climate Fund has investment commitment of up to USD 200 million, and is dedicated to fleet electrification. The collaboration aims to leverage MG Motor India’s forthcoming range of electric vehicles along with Vertelo’s provides electrification solutions for fleet operators. MG Motor India’s current EV lineup includes the small electric car ‘Comet’ and the SUV ‘ZS EV’. US Plans To Invest USD 3.8 Billion In India’s RE Infra US Ambassador Eric Garcetti recently shared International Development Finance Corporation plans to invest USD 3.8 billion to meet India’s renewable energy and infrastructure goals. He said, while addressing an event on ‘Indo-US Space Co-operation’ in Mumbai, he extended support to support renewable energy and infrastructure goals. He underscored the collaboration between the US and India in critical minerals, semiconductors, defence, and space. Garcetti stated, “The United States International Development Finance Corporation is investing USD 3.8 billion to support India’s renewable energy and infrastructure objectives, alongside initiatives in agriculture, healthcare, and financial services.” Earlier this year, US Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a $71 million investment, including $16 million from the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, in research, development, and demonstration projects to grow the network of domestic manufacturers across the US solar energy supply chain. The selected projects will address gaps in the domestic solar manufacturing capacity for the supply chain including equipment, silicon ingots and wafers, and both silicon and thin-film solar cell manufacturing. The projects will also open new markets for solar technologies such as dual-use photovoltaic (PV) applications, including building-integrated PV and agrivoltaics.
