Solitech to Begin 2 GW TOPCon Solar Module Manufacturing in Surat By Manish Kumar/ Updated On Thu, Mar 13th, 2025 Solitech to Begin 2 GW TOPCon Solar Module Manufacturing in Surat New entrant in the solar module manufacturing business, Solitech has announced commencing the production of TOPCon based solar modules from Surat in Gujarat. The company said that orders have already been placed and work has started to start the production of the modules as soon as possible. Hardik Ramani, Managing Director of the company, said that the company will start with an initial capacity of 1 GW, with a subsequent expansion of another 1 GW, bringing the total planned capacity to 2 GW. “All of our production will be based on TOPCon technology,” said Hardik Ramani, Managing Director of Solitech. “With the solar industry rapidly shifting towards TOPCon modules, we have chosen to focus on this advanced technology to meet the growing market demand.” Mixed Set Of Challenges Despite the growing opportunities in the solar module sector, new entrants often face mixed reactions from industry players. Ramani acknowledged this challenge but remains optimistic. “While some discourage newcomers, many also support and encourage innovation in the sector. Competition creates new opportunities, and we prefer to focus on the possibilities rather than the hurdles,” he stated. Establishing a solar module manufacturing unit comes with significant challenges, the foremost being financial investment. “This is a capital-intensive business, and securing adequate funding has been a key hurdle,” Ramani noted. Additionally, building a skilled team with technical expertise to manage manufacturing operations has been another critical aspect of the journey. Aims 2 GW Of Cumulative Capacity Looking ahead, Solitech not only aims to achieve its 2 GW module production goal but is also considering venturing into solar cell manufacturing. This move aligns with the growing demand for solar cells and the Indian government’s upcoming Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) regulations under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Ramani is optimistic about the expected demand and order keeping in the mind the scaling up of solar project installations in the country.
