MSEDCL does not have solar net meter: Report By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Nov 15th, 2016 It’s been more than a year now since the Maharashtra government passed rooftop solar policy; still the Discoms in the state doesn’t have net meters claims a report. According to TOI, consumers in the state have to buy net meters from the open market paying from their pocket. Net metering is a billing mechanism, it records and credits solar plant owners for exchange of energy they add to the grid. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) regional director Prasad Reshme speaking to the publication on unavailability of net meter, said “We have floated another tender and expect to get a better response this time. Till then consumers should buy net meters as per specifications of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka discoms.“ Many consumers are also complaining that MSEDCL meter readers are unable to take readings of the net meters says the report.
