MNRE revises benchmark cost of Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) Systems By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Sat, Feb 6th, 2016 From a recent statement from The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the government body had revised the benchmark cost of Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) Technologies program. The MNRE has taken the initiatives with the aim of promoting energy efficiency and Green India. The newly revised benchmark cost will be related to the performance efficiency in structure and assembling of the systems, so that smaller systems could provide more energy economically. The existing benchmark costs of the CST were developed under ‘off-grid & decentralized solar application’ scheme of the National Solar Mission in 2010. The MNRE has also made a proposal to the Public for the suggestions on the same activity by the 15 Feb, 2016. The CST technologies includes Non-Imaging Compound (NIC) parabolic reflectors, Single Axis Automatic Tracked (Scheffler, PTC, LFR etc.), and Dual Axis Automatic Tracked (Paraboloid Dishes, Central Tower etc.). The proposed emendation of the benchmark cost on the premise of instantaneous heat output/heat distribution from CST systems will likewise help to increase in the expense of various components of CST frameworks.
