MNRE Releases List of Sanctioned Solar Parks under the Solar Park Scheme By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Dec 1st, 2017 Solar parks across various states in the country, each with a capacity of Solar Projects generally above 500 MW will be built. In a bid to provide clean energy to the citizens of India PM Narendra Modi earlier has revised national solar mission capacity from the current 22 gigawatt (GW) to 100 GW by 2022. The Centre in 2010 had announced the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) for developing 20-GW capacity solar grids and 2-GW capacity off-grid solar applications. Recently, the government has again revised the total achievable solar power capacity to be 175GW by 2022 making it the world’s biggest renewable energy program. India added nearly 2,247MW of solar energy capacity during July-September period, corresponding to a growth of 15.40 percent as compared to 1,947MW added in Q2 of 2017. India’s total solar energy generation has crossed 17GW till December, 2017. The Ministry of New and renewable Energy (MNRE) proposed solar park scheme under which solar parks across various states in the country, each with a capacity of Solar Projects generally above 500 MW will be built, providing governmental financial support facilitating creation of infrastructure by allocation of land, transmission and evacuation lines, access roads, availability of water and others, in a focused manner. The MNRE on 29 November, 2017 issued a list of sanctioned solar parks.
