MNRE Opens Entries for ‘Prakritik Urja Puraskar Yojna’

The last date for receipt of entries is December 15, 2019 and the entries will be accepted in a prescribed proforma only.

With an aim to encourage writing books in Hindi based on new and renewable energy, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has opened entries for its financial reward scheme ‘Prakritik Urja Puraskar Yojna’ for the calendar year 2018.

The MNRE said in a notification that “it is implementing ‘Prakritik Urja Puraskar Yojna’ to encourage original book writing in Hindi/ translation of books in Hindi in the field of New and Renewable Sources of Energy.”

As per the reward scheme, preference will be given to the books originally written in Hindi. For such books, the government will provide first prize of Rs. One Lakh and the second winner will get Rs. Sixty Thousand as a prize. However, the third prize winner will receive an amount of Rs. Forty Thousand as prize.

Besides, if the government has selected any translated book for award, in that case prize money will be half of the amount given to original books i.e. for the first prize the amount will Rs. Fifty Thousand, for the second prize the amount will Rs. Thirty Thousand, and for the third prize the amount will Rs. Twenty Thousand.

Furthermore, the books considered under the scheme can be written on the subjects including – solar thermal energy, wind energy, solar energy, biomass, biogass, bio energy, advanced cookstoves, and new and renewable sources of energy.

The ministry said that, last date for receipt of entries is December 15, 2019 and the entries will be accepted in a prescribed proforma only.

All the authors, whether government or non-government employees, can participate in the scheme, it added.

For the eligibility, books originally written in Hindi or translated into Hindi should be published from the year 2014 to 2018.
