It will be available throughout the year as per the MNRE requirement. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has offered a national internship program on renewable energy called National Renewable Energy Internship (NREI) scheme. The ministry said in a statement that, through this scheme, it will provide internship to students who are pursuing Under Graduate/Graduate/Post Graduate degrees, or research scholars who enrolled in recognized institutions/universities within India or abroad, as Interns. Under this scheme, students of various engineering, science, management, law and other streams may undertake an internship in the ministry and in organisations under its aegis to understand various activities of the ministry to become Researchers/ Managers in the renewable energy space. Moreover, these candidates will be attached with the senior level officers of the ministry in various programme divisions and can work for a period of two to six months. The purpose of the scheme is to provide an opportunity to such Interns to know about the ministry’s functioning, programmes and policy, issues in renewable energy etc. Also, they can contribute to generating inputs like analysis, technical reports/technology advancement project reports/policy papers, etc. for the furtherance of the objectives of this ministry, MNRE added. The ministry further added that this internship will be on an unpaid basis, and no stipend will be provided to the interns. It will be available throughout the year as per the MNRE requirement. Besides, the scheme will also provide opportunity to personnel engaged in the projects related to policy research promotion/demonstration and deployment of renewable energy in national and international research/institutes and financial institutions to work as Interns in the ministry/its organizations. Every year, the internship will be provided to a maximum of 40 interns, with not more than 20 interns being in position at any point of time, the ministry added. Also, every division head can take a maximum of 3 interns for internship per year. Meanwhile, the candidates can apply online through the MNRE website throughout the year. Also, the application shall be made at least one month before the expected date of joining and not more than 3 months in advance from the date of commencement i.e. if applicants want internship from January 01, 2020, he/she can apply from October 01, 2019 to November 30, 2019.
