MNRE Discusses India’s First Offshore Wind Power Project with Developers By Anirudh Sharma/ Updated On Wed, Aug 8th, 2018 The ministry has uploaded the documents regarding the wind data collected from the Gujarat region with the help of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) for the developers to refer for their detailed project reports. In a boost to the Greenfield energy projects in the country, MNRE has discussed with the wind power developers of India and abroad about the framework of the tender document for development of India’s first 1 GW offshore wind power project off the coast of Gujarat. Moreover, the ministry has uploaded the documents regarding the wind data collected from the region with the help of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) for the developers to refer for their detailed project reports. Held in New Delhi, the discussion entities included leading wind power developers from India and abroad. Denmark’s Orstead, Saudi Arabia’s Alfanar, Denmark’s Copenhagan Infrastructure Partners and Canada’s Northland Power were some of the bigger wind energy developers among the foreign players present at the meeting. The discussion also included the parameters to be followed by the international bidders during the presentation of the bid documents. The government also made aware the attendees about keeping away from any private agent claiming to facilitate business in India. Renew Power, Suzlon Energy, Inox Wind India, Leap Green Energy were some of the Indian wind power players present at the meeting.
