MNRE brings online facility for installation of solar rooftops

Ministry of News and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has prepared a centralized facility which will let users apply online for installation of solar rooftops on their premises.

A senior official speaking to PTI said Govt. has provided an online facility where users can apply for solar rooftops based on their requirements and space available.

The official said “ consumers, including individuals (residential), commercial, industrial or public institutions, can apply online. After that, service providers will approach (consumers) to provide services.”

Due to lack of clarity about installation of solar rooftops many users have shown little interest. To bridge the gap between consumer and service providers MNRE has introduced this centralized facility.

The Government has set a target of 100 GW of solar energy generation in India by 2022, of which 40 GW is spectated for rooftops. India has a potential to install 124 GW of solar rooftop projects.
