The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has now planned to boost the network of registered vendors to expedite the growth of residential rooftop installations. The ministry is now trying to spur the growth of solar installations through its PM Surya Ghar scheme where it has planned to install rooftop solar in one crore households. In this regard, the ministry has now issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) from vendors under PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGY) to increase awareness.

As per the EOI details, the scheme ensures a streamlined process through the National Rooftop Portal for efficient implementation. The government said that it is dedicated to enhancing the vendor experience by addressing concerns, providing clear guidelines, and simplifying processes.

Earlier this year, the government launched the PM-Surya Ghar scheme to enable households to harness the power of solar through various subsidies and concessions provided under the scheme. Now the government intends to bring onboard more vendors registered on the National Portal.

This latest notification sought to extend support to bring more vendors onboard to seek benefits from expanding market opportunities. Currently, the scheme has over 8,000 vendors with the aim to expand further, up to 25,000 vendors. The vendors are a key element, as they would be responsible for reaching out to the untapped market and those with high growth potential because the consumers are entitled to central subsidies only after they get the systems installed through MNRE empaneled vendors.

MNRE Aims To Create Level Playing Field
