Ministry of Power sanctioned 4604 DDG Projects to cover 4745 Villages & Hamlets: Piyush Goyal By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Aug 9th, 2016 Ministry of Power is implementing Decentralized Distributed Generation (DDG) under Deen DayalUpadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana (DDUGJY) through Rural Electrification Corporation to provide access to electricity to un-electrified villages/habitations where grid connectivity is either not feasible or not cost effective. Piyush Goyal Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines in the Rajya Sabha said that as on date, 4604 DDG projects for a total project cost of Rs.1470.64 crore have been sanctioned covering 4745 villages/hamlets (3,586 UEVs) in various States across the country. The Minister further added that DDG can be from conventional or renewable sources such as biomass, biofuels, biogas, Mini hydro, solar etc. DDG scheme provides a subsidy towards 60% (85 % for special category states) of the project cost. However, an additional subsidy of 15% (5 % for special category states) is applicable subject to timely completion of DDG projects.
