Under the planet 21 initiative Mercure Hyderabad KCP has inaugurated a Solar Hot Water System at the hotel which they called ‘an initiative towards sustainable development’.

According to Mercure the installation is a step towards protecting the environment producing renewable power. The hotel has 98 square-meter space on the rooftop where they have installed solar panels to power a solar water heater requirements for its entire 128 rooms. The pump generates 10KL of water every day.

To take care of hotel requirements the solar panels will generate 30KW power per hour thus maximizing use of solar energy and eventually reducing its dependency on conventional source of energy.

Also the risk of short circuit is also reduced to the minimal and the initiative will help in controlling global warming as well.

The system will reduce the hot water energy consumption for the hotel. It will save approximately 180 units per day that equals to the average cost saving of Rs 5, 66,000 per year.

Dinesh Rai, General Manager, Mercure Hyderabad KCP said, “this initiative is a step to reduce our carbon foot prints and become energy efficient. With the installation of solar hot water system, we will reduce our dependence on conventional power sources and switch to renewable sources. We are happy to install the solar hot water system at our hotel under PLANET 21 program.”
