China tops the list of electric vehicle (EV) developers and electric mobility promoters. With close to 500 automakers  EV manufacturers, the competition is intense. On company is going back to the original Chinese premise for success. Build them cheap. 

Levdeo, one of the EV makers in the country, headquartered in Shandong, China, is aiming to build and offer the cheapest EV in the global market. Founded in 2008, Levdeo currently has ten production vehicles and produces 600,000 units every year.

Currently, China has Wuling Hong Guan Mini as the sales leader in the market. However, Levdeo has emerged as a strong competitor, as it’s assembly lines  have rolled out its newly launched Mango with prices starting at Chinese Yuan 29,800 (INR 3,41,213) in April 2021. 

Mango is a new model under the also new Letin brand for global markets (launched in 2020) whose mass-produced cars officially seek to be  “new energy cars for common people,” says the firm. (Letin) is a play on Let In, in English)

Mango aims to improve the travel of 600 million urban residents. It is a green-branded and unrestricted car for the common people. The car comes in green dew, yellow malt, and white clouds, Moonrock gray, and other colors. 

It comes in three versions, each with a different type of battery and two motor powers. The base model is powered by a 25 kW electric motor and 105 Nm of torque, powered by an 11.52 kWh lithium battery. A small pack that offers a range of 130 km, according to the company. 

For the medium variant, the 25 kW motor is the same but, the battery increases to a capacity of 17.28 kWh. This allows it, as usual, to increase its range up to 185 kilometers.

The third option increases the power of the engine up to 35 kW, an engine that also has a higher capacity battery, reaching 29.44 kWh, and 300 km of range. 

The price ranges from 29,800 (INR 3,41,213) Yuan to 49,900 Yuan (INR 5,71,361) depending on the version.
