Maharashtra Leads In Providing Incentive Under The Rooftop Solar Program In 2023 The Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and Power (MNRE) informed the parliament in a written reply to the renewable energy capacity in the country has increased by about 2.35 times in the last decade. Among other details, the minister gives a state-wise detail of subsidies provided under various schemes to encourage new and renewable energy production during the last three years. Based on data on various subsidies he states that during the last three years the rooftop solar programms/projects received a total of 466.27 subsidy. It further mentions that states that provide highest subsidy in rooftop solar to be Maharashtra (58.28), Gujarat (52.34), Arunachal Pradesh (33.09) Madhya Pradesh (31.29) and Delhi (22.24) The Union Minister informed about the growth of renewable energy in the country, mentioning that Other states that provide relatively low subsidy to be – Rajasthan (21.96), Telangana (20.66), Himachal Pradesh (20.63), Uttar Pradesh (19.92), Kerala (11.72), Punjab (6.87), Jammu & Kashmir (4.89), Uttarakhand (4.55), Tamil Nadu (4.41), Haryana (4.12), Manipur (4.03), Bihar (1.49), Chandigarh (0.85), Andaman & Nicobar (0.35), and Tripura (0.46) Whereas states like, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Ladakh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland Odisha, Sikkim, West Bengal, Dadar & Nagar Haveli/ Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry don’t provide such policies and program.
