Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued tender inviting bids for the supply of 325 MW of Wind Power on a Long Term basis. The exercise is being undertaken for intra-state wind power projects. According to the notification, the last date for bidding is kept at June 9, 2022. It says that the pre-bid conference or clarification or meeting will be done on May 20, 2022. Financial bid opening and reverse e-auction dates will be informed to eligible bidders by MSEDCL. Along with the response to Request for Selection (RfS), the bidders will also have to deposit earnest money at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per MW of wind energy. Wind Energy in India According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India currently has the fourth highest wind installed capacity in the world with total installed capacity. In March 2021, India had installed capacity of 39.25 GW and had generated around 60.149 Billion Units in the previous year. Maharashtra, which is one of the seven windy states in India, too has a reasonable potential of about 45 GW and 100 GW at 100m and 120m respectively. This is actually a 30 per cent increase when compared with the fourth quarter of 2021. Maharashtra, along with Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka, continue to be the primary markets for the wind based energy. The four states make about 72 per cent of all additions. The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has come up with its Global Wind Report 2022 in which it has said that India’s wind market will grow at 3.2GW and 4.1GW in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
