Larsen & Toubro (L&T) recently received multiple orders to set up transmission networks and substations in India and abroad.

The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business of Larsen & Toubro recently won new orders to support develop an interconnected electricity network in India and abroad. The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business vertical of L&T recently received orders to execute two 765kV double-circuit transmission line packages. These packages are associated with the evacuation of power from the Jaisalmer/ Barmer Renewable Energy Zone in L&T to substations in Madhya Pradesh for further interconnections. Furthermore, L&T is also constructing a 380kV network in Saudi Arabia’s central region to provide power supply to the region. 

In the United Arab Emirates, PT&D has secured orders to construct a 220kV Substation and three 132kV substations. Adding these substations to the network can help the utilities keep pace with the increasing electricity demand in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Additionally, PT&D has secured orders to build a 380kV Substation and 380kV overhead line segments.

Expanding Presence In The Middle East 

In pursuit of expanding its presence across India and abroad, the company recently undertook a project in the Middle East the renewable arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) finalized orders to build two gigawatt-scale solar PV plants. The plants are expected to have a 3.5 GW capacity. 

The scope of the orders included grid interconnections encompassing pooling substations and overhead transmission lines. Detailed engineering and initial construction work are expected to commence shortly. Last month, L&T won a solar-cum-storage plant order in India. L&T’s fresh orders from the Middle East can take its renewables portfolio to 22 GWp (Gigawatt Peak) cumulative capacity, comprising solar and wind generation projects already commissioned and those in the making
